This week we welcomed Broxmouth Courtyard’s latest addition: a new electric passenger vehicle.
The luxury, environmentally friendly seven-seater will be used to whisk guests between the venue and the estate’s accommodation. It was purchased thanks to 15,000 pounds of funding from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and backing people and skills.
Replacing an existing diesel-powered buggy, the new vehicle adds an extra level of comfort for guests. It will be available for colleagues to collect those staying at our self-catering cottages, Bridge House, Head Gardener’s Cottage and South Lodge, transporting them to weddings and events held within the Broxmouth Courtyard venue.

While the new vehicle has been purchased to elevate our guest experience and provide a more luxurious all-weather offering, particularly for off-season events, the decision to choose electric was vital in supporting our carbon reduction plans. The purchase will support the team as they work towards the venue’s Net Zero carbon emission goals set out within our 2024 Carbon Management Plan.
As a business we’ve already made great strides to support these objectives, and we’re grateful that we are able to develop our plan thanks to support provided by East Lothian Council. Work already undertaken includes a switch to a 100% renewable energy tariff, updating and installing a new electricity transformer, and updating the venue’s heating provision.
We are delighted that our new Broxmouth passenger vehicle is now in place, allowing us to take another step towards achieving our Net Zero carbon goals.
